For Florida’s electric cooperatives, safety is top priority for both co-op employees and the consumer-members they serve. Co-ops continually take numerous steps to prepare for the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from May 1 through November 30, and other types of natural or man-made disasters. They understand the importance of being prepared for, responding to, and mitigating any type of emergency situation.
Here are four key things to remember when preparing for an emergency:
- Stay informed about the different types of emergencies that could occur and their appropriate responses.
- Make a family emergency plan.
- Build an emergency supply kit.
- Get involved in your community by taking action to prepare for emergencies.
